PLAXIS is geotechnical engineering software used for finite element analysis of soil, rock and soil structure interaction. It is widely used for foundation design, excavation analysis, tunnelling, slope stability, retaining walls, embankments, groundwater analysis and geotechnical investigations.
For professional geotechnical engineering work, I recommend a modern Intel Core Ultra 7 or Ultra 9 processor, or an AMD Ryzen 7 or Ryzen 9 processor, at least 32GB RAM, a dedicated NVIDIA RTX graphics card and a fast NVMe SSD. For demanding PLAXIS 3D models, 64GB or 128GB RAM is worth considering.
The following laptops cover demanding geotechnical simulations, large 3D models, computational analysis and more affordable engineering setups.
